How to Keep OneDrive Family Photos Available Offline

Keep OneDrive photos accessible without internet by selecting Always keep on this device in Windows or using Make Available Offline in the iOS app.

To keep your OneDrive photos accessible without an internet connection on a Windows device, right-click a file or folder and select "Always keep on this device" Microsoft Support. In the OneDrive app for iOS, you can select "Make Available Offline" for files, and you can also use this option for folders if you have a Premium OneDrive account with a Microsoft 365 subscription Microsoft Support.

Downloading offline files in Windows

In Windows, right-click a file or folder and select "Always keep on this device" Microsoft Support. These always available files download to your device and take up space, but they are always there for you even when you are offline Microsoft Support. Only files that you mark as "Always keep on this device" will have a green circle with a white check mark Microsoft Support.

Making files available in the iOS app

In the OneDrive app for iOS, press and hold a file, or tap the three dots next to it, and then tap "Make Available Offline" Microsoft Support. You can perform this same action on a folder to make it available for offline reading, but taking folders offline is only available for Premium OneDrive with a Microsoft 365 subscription Microsoft Support.

Viewing offline photos on iOS

To confirm that a file or folder is stored locally on iOS, look for the Available Offline icon in the List view Microsoft Support. You can tap the file listing anytime to open the file for reading Microsoft Support.
