Adding a bookmark in Preview

To mark your current location, choose Tools > Add Bookmark Apple Support. A practical suggestion is to verify the correct page is fully loaded on your screen before applying this setting. This practice helps keep your research organized when handling extensive files.

Viewing and navigating to saved pages

When you open a PDF with multiple pages, you can view thumbnails of all the pages in the sidebar Apple Support. To go to a specific page, click a thumbnail, or choose Go > Go to Page Apple Support. If you prefer visual navigation, scrolling through the thumbnails is a helpful suggestion for browsing your document.

To access locations you have previously marked, you can view bookmarks by choosing View > Bookmarks Apple Support. To go to a bookmark, click the bookmark in the Bookmarks sidebar Apple Support. As a practical tip, keeping this sidebar open while reading makes it easier to quickly jump back and forth between different chapters.

Deleting an existing bookmark

If a saved location is no longer needed, you can remove it from your document. To delete a bookmark, choose View > Bookmarks, Control-click the bookmark in the sidebar, then click Delete Apple Support. It is a good practical suggestion to periodically clear out old markers to keep your sidebar organized and ensure your most relevant pages remain easy to find.
