How to Export Edited and Original Photos on Mac
To export photos on a Mac, select File > Export > Export Photos for edited versions, or Export Unmodified Original to save the original file format.

To export edited and original versions of a photo on a Mac, you can choose to export edited images or unmodified originals from the File menu Apple Support. The path you select determines whether you can specify output settings or if the image simply saves in the original file format in which it was imported into your photo library Apple Support.
Exporting edited photos
To export edited images, choose File > Export > Export [number] Photos Apple Support. This Export command allows you to choose the size and format for the exported photos, and specify filename and subfolder organization settings Apple Support. You can also export a Live Photo as a still image using this menu path Apple Support.
Exporting unmodified original files
If you want to save the photo without your edits, choose File > Export > Export Unmodified Original Apple Support. This option exports photos in the original file format in which they were imported Apple Support. When exporting an unmodified original version of a Live Photo, the image is exported as two separate files: a video file and a still-image file Apple Support.
Naming exported image files
You can name your exported files using their filenames or the titles you have given them in Photos Apple Support. You also have the option to use a filename numbered sequentially Apple Support. If you choose a sequentially numbered format, you can specify text to appear before each number, such as Birthday - 1 and Birthday - 2 Apple Support.
Saving metadata as sidecar files
You can export assigned IPTC metadata and keywords as a separate sidecar XMP file Apple Support. To include this IPTC information alongside your image, select the Export IPTC as XMP tick box Apple Support.
