How to Move Photo Files Between OneDrive Folders
Learn how to relocate photos between folders on the OneDrive website by selecting files, avoiding Photo view, and using the Move to command.

To move photo files between folders in OneDrive, you first browse to the item on OneDrive.com and select it, then use the Move to command in the top navigation to pick a destination folder [Microsoft Support].
Selecting photos to move on OneDrive.com
To relocate an item on the OneDrive.com website, browse to the specific file or folder you want to move [Microsoft Support]. Select the item by hovering your pointer over it and checking the circle that appears [Microsoft Support].
The location of this selection circle depends on your screen layout: it appears to the left of the item in List view, or in the upper-right corner of the tile if you are using Tiles or Photo view [Microsoft Support]. You can also select multiple items at once to move them together as a group [Microsoft Support].
Why you cannot move files from Photo view
Caution: You cannot move photos directly from the Photo view because this web-only screen aggregates photos from different folder locations within OneDrive [Microsoft Support].
If you want to move images that you see in this view, you must find them in their actual locations using Files view, File Explorer, or Finder before you can move the files [Microsoft Support].
Using the Move to command
Once your files are selected, select Move to from the top navigation [Microsoft Support]. This opens the Move to pane, where you can browse to your desired destination folder and then select Move [Microsoft Support]. If you want to create a new location to store the selected item, select New folder instead [Microsoft Support].
